Frank Arrigo’s suggestion on Blog Tools

The legendary ‘cupid of the blogosphere’ Frank Arrigo has kindly shared his views of tools appropriate for the more hard-core Microsoft bloggers among us.

Hey there Mike

I see you are on msn spaces. Good to see you made the move

Let me try & answer your questions…

  1. I use newsgator as my rss reader. Plugs into outlook. Works offline. It rocks. There are a few others that plug into outlook, like intranews. Some others to consider are sauce reader, rss bandit, sharpreader which are all standalone apps. (note All these are .net fx based)
  2. blogging tool – I use radio userland for my personal publishing, its costs $$, but provides hosting and a bunch of other features. My microsoft blog is hosted on msdn and it uses .text as the publishing engine. There are others, such as dasblog. Newsgator can be used to post.
  3. hosting is the challenge. That’s why I paid cash for radio userland.

Stick with msnspaces and see if it does what you need. I find too restrictive, but it’s a good place to start

cheers
