Ive just started messing with social bookmarking and methinks I finally get it – come with me on a little journey if ye wish to know more…
Thanks to Stephen Downes at the OLDaily blog I discovered ‘7 things you should know about… Social Bookmarking‘ at educause. Having read the article a few times I still didnt get it so I wandered over to del.icio.us and created THIS list of book marks.
Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks to a
public Web site and “tagging” them with keywords. To
create a collection of social bookmarks, you register with a social
bookmarking site, which lets you store bookmarks, add tags of
your choice, and designate individual bookmarks as public or
private. Visitors to social bookmarking sites can search for resources by keyword, person,
or popularity and see the public bookmarks, tags, and classification
schemes that registered users have created and saved.
