http://www.xplanet.net/ is a way cool, very slick remix / hack based on google earth.
Forget the fact that it promotes the xmen thing and imagine how the functions (create profile, buddy list, self register, find cool dudes etc) could be leveraged for educational (in fact any type of) community building.
I think that Dave LifeKludger Wallace and I need to find a way to build and leverage the community that is forming around our Extraordinary Everyday Lives (eel) podcast. We already offer .kml ‘flying tours’ to places mentioned in our shows.
